Republic India Coins

Republic India coins were issued after India became a republic in 1950. These coins include denominations such as 1 Paise, 2 Paise, 5 Paise, 10 Paise, 20 Paise, 25 Paise, 50 Paise, 1 Rupee, 2 Rupees, 5 Rupees and higher denominations issued by the Government of India. Decimal coinage was introduced in 1957 replacing the earlier anna system. Republic coins were minted at Indian mints including Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Noida and can often be identified by their mint marks. These coins are widely collected by numismatists and represent the evolution of modern Indian coinage.
